Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d) - Neuropeptide Research

The Central Institute of Mental Health (ZI) stands for internationally outstanding research and pioneering treatment concepts in psychiatry and psychotherapy, child and adolescent psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine, and addiction medicine.

For our Neuropeptide Research Department, we are looking to appoint a Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d) at the earliest possible date.

Position: Full-time (100%)

The position is initially limited to 1 year, with the option of an extension.

Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct in vivo single-unit electrophysiology experiments in freely moving rodents.
  • Design and perform rodent behavioral experiments.
  • Perform stereotaxic surgeries, including viral microinjections.
  • Manipulate neuronal activity using optogenetic and/or chemogenetic approaches.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data using quantitative methods and programming tools (Python and/or MATLAB).

Your Qualifications

  • A PhD in Neuroscience or a related field, with strong hands-on experience in in vivo single-unit electrophysiology in freely moving rodents.
  • Experience with rodent behavioral experiments and stereotaxic surgery, including viral microinjection.
  • Experience with neuronal manipulation using optogenetic and/or chemogenetic approaches, including histological verification.
  • Strong quantitative data analysis and programming skills (Python and/or MATLAB), as well as excellent written and spoken English.
